After Care.
Uncover.
If your tattoo was bandaged before leaving the appointment, keep the wrapping on for no longer than 3-4 hours. Once you take off the bandage, pat off any excess ointment with a clean paper towel. Peel the wrap off in the direction that your hair grows to avoid unnecessary discomfort (no need to wax your arm or leg!) Afterwards, let your tattoo breathe, do not re-bandage the tattooed area.
Moisturize.
Apply a chapstick-thin layer of lotion or ointment to your tattoo Please use natural moisturizers that are free of chemical additives and artificial perfumes. Remember that your new tattoo is technically an open wound, so do not use anything that might cause irritation. Do not over moisturize. To ensure longevity and best results, continue moisturizing and applying SPF regularly even after your tattoo is completely healed.
Clean.
After approximately 4-6 hours, you can shower in lukewarm water. Try to keep your new tattoo from being hit directly with water during the duration of your shower. Wash with mild soap lightly with your hand, but do not scrub or use a towel or loofa. After, close your pores with a cold cloth and pat dry with a clean towel. Keep clean and avoid swimming, taking baths and sun until your tattoo is completely healed (about 2 weeks).
